Dracula

Review of Dracula by Bram Stoker
Dracula by Bram Stoker
is like no novel I’ve ever read before. The way the story is told is very strange in that rather
than having a narrator or a main character telling the story from the first person, it’s told through a series of diary entries, letters, and
such. To make it even more strange the diary entries and letters come from a variety of
characters in the book.
The novel opens with a journal entry in Jonathon Harker’s journal detailing his trip to
Dracula’s castle in Transylvania. The suspense and horror begin on his approach to the castle
and don’t stop until the book is over.
The way it’s all put together shows the absolute mastery of Bram Stoker. I give
Dracula a 9 out of 10.
